HOOSEGOW HONEY UPDATE
Over 2000 ballots have been tallied in the 2007 Hawkeye Hoosegow Honey of the Year pageant, and two candidates have emerged as early reader favorites: button-cute April and winsome Megan. Despite the strong fan support, they currently languish in 4th and 5th overall, thanks to the commanding bail bond point totals of Amanda, Jessica and Laura.
Can April or Megan stage a rally and overtake the big bail bond three? Will out-of-state celebrity jailhouse ringer Paris rise above her humiliating 9th place position? It's up to voters like you! Make your voice heard before August 20th.

THE HOUSE RECOMMENDS
New on the blogroll: my favorite recent blog discovery, funny and talented Oregon magazine writer Nancy Rommelman. Make sure to browse her left sidebar for links to some of her past articles for LAWeekly and others.
Old on the blogroll: my pal / neighbor / musical sherpa Cratedigger, who has been assembling some awesome collections of obscure funk and dub nuggets for your downloading and listening pleasure. You might also enjoy the strange-but-true tale of Cratedigger & Iowahawk's invited (!) test drive a $180,000 Bentley Continental. Let's just say that Bentley Motors has some kinks to work out in their target marketing. No, the dealership was not amused by our Rat Fink and Mexican wrestling masks; but the lovely gal they assigned to chaperone our road test didn't narc after we each stomped the loud pedal to hear that 560 hp V12 scream a few times.

PARTY TIME
Good news for those seeking entertainment in Los Angeles this weekend: Michael Donovan at Sjobeck Denim send word they are throwing a launch shindig at Fast Eddie's Garage (1116 W. Washington) Saturday nite at 7pm. Chic threads, loud music, hot rods, and Pabst Blue Ribbon - what else do you want? Who knows, you might even spot a strange visitor from the exotic Midwest.
