Made another one of my occasional sojourns to Los Angeles last week in which the focus was on fast loud shiny things. Highlights included bombing around downtown LA with Coop in his ginchy '46 Ford sedan (including a drive-by mooning of Occupy LA), a visit to the Azuza mad science lab of Gale Banks to investigate his new 1500 HP blown diesel-powered dragster, fried dough and burning rubber at the weekly Donut Derelicts gathering in Huntington Beach, and an afternoon of holiday delights at the annual Mooneyes Christmas Party at Irwindale Speedway. In between, I managed to squeeze a party at Rand Simberg's house (along with the space cowboys of XCOR Aerospace - much more about these cats later), watch the Chicago Bears get Tebowned with my pal Adam Baldwin, view the Christmas boat parade along the Venice canals with the Andrew Breitbart family, plus a swanky little booze 'n' chat with a dozen or so supergroovy Iowahawk readers at Oldfield's Liquor Room, my pal Bobby Green's newest car-themed saloon in LA.
