NBC isn't the only media outlet dedicated to Green programming this week. As a member of the Fourth Estate, it's also important to me that my readers are fully informed of the various ways they can help the planet, such as downsizing their personal transportation. Take for example the 'Purple People Eater' 1931 Ford Model A of Mark Idzardi. Built by Mark and his eco-friends in the Shifters car club of southern California, the PPE is a rolling showcase of Green design principles: a small, short wheelbase city car, lightened with advanced holesaw technology, and built with 100% recycled materials -- like the Pontiac engine that once powered a dragster to a 149 mph blown gas record at Riverside in 1959, and can run on both gasoline and Earth-friendly alcohol. Now that's Green innovation!
For more about the PPE, look for the upcoming issue of Garage Magazine where Mark and my Garage colleague Larry Mills take it for a test drive around the streets of SoCal, including a memorable visit to the drive thru at Jack in the Box. Inside you'll also find my mini-epic of UFO hot rod madness along the Mexican border... which I must get back to work on pronto! Ciao, Eco-Buddies!
